With the slowing economy in North America most market segments of the paint and coatings industry are showing little to no growth and many have seen declines in market volumes.  In addition to slumping sales another threat to the industry is the fact that the average cost of raw materials and finished goods have undergone rapid inflation ultimately impacting the profitability of many businesses throughout the supply and consumption chain.  These factors combined with the changing regulatory climate has made the North American paint and coatings market a challenging place to grow and maintain traditional levels of profit.
